ALMEDINILLA
The
town boasts archaeological sites of international renown, the Iberian
settlement of El Cerro de la Cruz and the Roman Villa of El Ruedo.
The value remains from both sites can be seen in the town’s
historical museum whose insignia is the Roman bronze of Hypnos, the
god of sleep. The town also has impressive natural surroundings, as

CARCABUEY
Carcabuey
welcomes its visitors under the walls of its castle. You can stroll
through the old quarter and enjoy a range of churches, shrines and
mansions.
IZNAJAR
Iznajar
sits on the southern edge of the Subbetica Natural Park, overlooking
the lake, Iznajar’s castle dominates the town. Today its keep, its
cistern in the courtyard, part of the gate and the walls and
crenellations are in a good state of repair.
PRIEGO DE CORDOBA
Originating in Moorish times, Priego has a wealth of Moorish elements remaining, including the Castle, Villa Quarter, and the Balcon de Adarve, a magnificent natural balcony. As the capital of Cordovan Baroque, Priego boasts many fine examples of the style such as the Monstrance of the Church of la Asuncion, Church of Aurora and Fuente del Rey fountain, with 3 pools and a statue of Neptune surrounded by 139 jets.
ZUHEROS
Nestling
in the foothills of the Sierras, Zuheros is the prettiest of the
villages, with its famous tourist attraction of the Cueva de los
Murcielagos cave, boasting beautiful stalactite and stalagmite
formations. In its castle, you can still see the remains of the
Rennaisance palace built with ashlars.
